Why should you not take Vitamin C and Anti-malarial drugs?

Ever asked yourself why your doctor advised you against taking vitamin C and Anti – Malarial drugs? This is what happens when you mix both.

But first, let me give you a background:

All drugs we take in, be it orally, or through some other routes, are metabolized in the liver.
Your liver contains iron in abundant amounts, and this iron is very important in the life cycle of malaria plasmodium parasite.

The Malaria parasite needs the Iron in order to increase it chances of survival in the human body. Therefore, this is the reason the parasite will always trying to make their way to the liver

Vitamin C, on the other hand helps in absorption of iron, which goes to the liver, where it is stored.
Malaria parasites will accumulate in the liver and start multiply because the iron, which is really necessary for their survive is in abundant amounts there.
This will in turn interfere with the effect of whatever anti-malarial drug you’re taking.
